Personalised Solutions for Your Production
Our nets are supplied in rolls and sold by the metre. Upon request, we prepare ready-to-use nets — cut to size, knotted, and/or elasticated — according to your specifications. Our expertise allows us to work with a single specified material or combine two different materials to precisely meet each client’s requirements.
Boudinage Nets
Boudinage nets are specifically designed for mussel cultivation on stakes and ropes, manufactured with mesh sizes ranging from 14 to 40 mm. They are made using a combination of cotton and polypropylene: the cotton holds the spat in place during net application while leaving the necessary space for the mussels to develop, whereas the polypropylene ensures the mussels remain secure during winding onto the stake and handling.
Catinage Nets
Catinage nets play an essential role in keeping mussels in place on stakes throughout their growth cycle. In addition to protecting mussels from swell and currents, they also defend against marine predators. These nets are manufactured in synthetic materials such as polypropylene or polyester, and are available with mesh sizes ranging from 20 to 60 mm, depending on your specific requirements.

Braiding: Rigid or elastic cords are braided on 3, 8, 12, and 16-spindle machines, and wound onto mandrels or flanged bobbins.
Custom manufacturing: Half of our production is dedicated to custom-made products, tailored to the most precise client specifications.

For example, we are part of the European INTERREG INDIGO programme, which aims to reduce fishing-related plastic waste at sea by developing biodegradable fishing nets with a controlled lifespan. Filt1860 also actively participates in the FILL project, supported by the EMFAF (European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund), with the objective of developing biodegradable nets for mussel farming to reduce plastic pollution and support sustainable aquaculture.
As part of our innovation strategy, Filt1860 has developed a partnership with Basaltex®, a recognised specialist in basalt fibres. Our production is entirely based in France, reducing transport-related emissions and supporting the local economy. We use durable materials certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, guaranteeing the absence of heavy metals and azo dyes. We also work with GOTS-certified organic cotton, recognised for its rigorous social and environmental standards. In addition, we have developed a range of ECOCERT-certifiable organic cotton wicks, paving the way for ever more sustainable solutions.
Filt1860: Candle Wick Specialist
At Filt1860, we continuously strive to develop our expertise and promote French industry on the world stage. In 2006, we relaunched the production of a historic Normandy candle wick manufacturer, with a clear vision: to preserve and perpetuate a traditional Norman craft.
State-of-the-Art Braiding Expertise
Our braiding facility operates more than 200 braiding heads, including 3, 8, 12, and 16-spindle braiding machines, as well as automatic assembly units and precision finishing machines. These modern facilities allow us to dedicate 50% of our production to custom-made products, minimising waste and unnecessary stock accumulation.

Since 2021, and in response to growing customer demand, we have also offered recycled polyester as a more environmentally friendly alternative. For certain specific products, such as rabbit pouches, we use linen — a natural and sustainable fibre. Our flat and tubular nets are knitted on Raschel and crochet looms, producing square, diamond, or hexagonal mesh patterns, and are available in both flat and tubular formats.
